Walk A Payung

It was on 20th May 2012, Sunday morning where 13 members of Elabram Systems making their way to Tropicana Medical Centre, Petaling Jaya. We began our journey as early as 7 in the morning and arrived at the venue just right on time with one mission that is to support “Walk-a-Payung” event.

Before that, let me share with all of you on what the event is all about. “Walk-a-Payung” is an annual event organized by Persatuan SLE Malaysia in conjunction with World Lupus Day. The objective of the event is to raise public awareness on SLE patients in avoiding sun and for fund raising.

As seen, all of the participants were dressed in provided red t-shirts and so do we. We also had been given away with umbrellas, Gardenia Breakfast Vouchers and Mineral Water prior to the event kickoff.

 

Some of our team members were busy finding the right place to hang our CSR Banner outside the hall and I guessed they had found the right one now.

  

7.45 morning, announcement has been made and all of us are required to present ourselves at assembly area. The 30 minutes warming up exercise were filled with joy and laughter.

 

 

While we are waiting for the launching speech by Ministry of Health comes to an end, this was some of funny stuffs from 5 gentlemen, 8 ladies and a lovely couple from Elabram whenever they got the opportunity to get together.

   

                                

Besides representing Elabram Systems, we are also proudly representing our group.

    

Sun started to shine and the moment that we have waited for over. Our team was mentally and physically ready for the 3km walkathon. About 8.30 in the morning, the Walk-a-Payung event has officially launched. As we can see, all participants are from all walks of life includes patients and family members.

   

Not many pictures taken during the 3km walks as everyone was under the hot sun and we could feel it right into our skin. Even though we were tired and exhausted but yet we still enjoying the walkathon and manage to broaden our smile in front of camera.

Around 9.40 morning, our thousand miles walk has ended and our team successfully touched the finishing line (Tropicana Medical Centre Entrance). Without wasting our time, each of us collected our goody bags and quickly walked towards the event area to get ourselves a rest. 

Atmosphere fills with energetic music and the place was totally crowded with participants and visitors. Some of other activities spotted on that day were exhibition stalls, food stalls, games, fund raising activities, dance performances and Lucky draws.

10.10 morning, we proceed for a “Free Basic Health Screening”. All of us take turn to register and queued up to get ourselves checked for free Body Mass Index, Blood Glucose and Blood Pressure Test.

    

As shown, all of us have done with the checkups and this is our health result. Therefore, to those who are underweight, do eat more and to those who are overweight, do take care on the amount of food consume.

About 12:00pm, we have made our way back home.

Thanks to all Elabram Team Members for making this Walk-a-Payung event a success and thanks to all for spending the weekend together and hopefully we will have an opportunity to join this event again next year.

ESI Teambuilding 2012

Day 1

ESI had organized its very first teambuilding at Vista Venice Resort in Morong Bataan. It was a fun filled three days teambuilding event starting from 2nd-4th March 2012. 

The first day of ESI Teambuilding was an outreach program to Golden Acres located at Quezon City, Philipines. Golden Acres is a centre of the Department of Social Welfare and Development for abandoned and neglected elderly Filippinos. These old peoples were usually those who are neglected, abandoned, left alone and in need for shelters, foods and caring.

As soon as we arrived at the center, we have handed over our contributions to the staffs in charge in terms of goods, foods, groceries and some cash donation. After that, all of us proceed to the Hall for activities. We felt so welcome as everyone was ready at the hall and they were excited to join and be part of us for the activity.

Our Managing Director, Mr Mikel Yaw also can;t wait to participate himself in the programme that we;ve planned.One of the elderly holds Our Managing Director’s hand and started to communicate with him in Tagalog. She was thinking that he was a Filippino :)

To make it more fun, we have actually paired up our engineers and elderly for Parlor Games and Stop Dance.

Instead of Stop Dance, it was a “NON STOP PARTY”!

After the Stop Dance Game, we served the elderly with lunches.

It was a heartbreaking to see these old people had been abandoned by their own families to an old folks home but happy to see the happiness in their faces during our visit. They were once as individuals who have contributed to the shaping of their own families and welfare of their respective communities.

As shown, we have captured our unforgettable moment so that it could be keep as one of the moment to be cherished together.  

Day 2 - Outdoor

2^nd day was all about indoor activities. First game of the day, each team had been asked to created themselves a very unique cheers and also a flag with the team’s name on it.This game was so entertaining because all of us danced and cheered together.

We continue our 2^nd game which is to describe ourselves. Each of us has to shared our strength and weaknesses, likes and dislike and the main purpose of this activity is to empower our communication skills. Communication can be seen as one of the most important factor for everyone if they wish their team to function well in one organization.

Another fun yet challenging game for the day was “Rope Knots Game”. This game was totally challenging as we have to help each other to untangle the knot. The objective of this game means, in order to contribute to the overall success of the company,all of us must play an important role in helping each other when they need it .

Overall, the main teambuilding is intended is to have all team members to work hand in hand to identify and solve problems. By organizing teambuilding, organization and management shows that they are committed in employees well being, developing employee’s interpersonal skills and happiness J

Day 2 - R & R Night
The evening on second day, we have “Rewards and Recognition Night”. There is a special award for the night called “Star of the Night”. This award is to recognize those actively participated and outshined during the teambuilding activities.

Our Business Admin Manager, Ms. Liza, had been given an opportunity to give her appreciation to the team and management.

Now is the turn for our Managing Director, Sir Mikel to share his speech. I will never ever forget the moment especially when all of us sang R Kelly’s song, “ Worlds Greatest ”.  With these, we’re motivated and inspired.

And finally, I have been chosen as the Best Coordinator for ESI and the picture taken showing the certificate received from management. I really appreciate this.

Day 3 - Tour to Mt. Samat Shrine

On our last day, we had our tour at Mt. Samat Shrine. Below are some of the details of Mt. Samat.The Shrine of Valor (Dambana ng Kagitingan) a top Mt. Samat in Pilar was built in 1966 in memory of those soldiers of World War II.

It consists of the “Colonnade”, a marble capped structure with an altar, esplanade and a museum. Inside the museum you can learn more about the battle of Bataan and the Death March that followed. The captured US & Filipino soldiers were forced to march more than a hundred kilometers from Bataan to Tarlac.

After the tour, our 3 days teambuilding has come to an end. This was what we’ve been waiting for and it was really worth the wait. We had a great time and memories therefore we will surely keep it with us as a memory.
