In the name of Corporate Social Responsibility

Hi folks,

We are back again. Hope all of you are doing well.

Last Saturday, 17th May, a group of only 6 persons decided to do some voluntary work. We headed to the Zoo Negara (National Zoo) in KL in the morning and reached the Education Office of the Zoo just before 8am. It was drizzling - those that seemed forever kinda rain. But it did not dampen our spirit.  We joined other companies' staff members whom shared the same energy of a good cause.

After a short welcome speech and briefing by the Officers, the volunteers were segregated to their respective 'cage' for the day's work. Days before our voluntary effort, we were hoping we didn't get this cage or that cages, but as the saying goes, the more you think about it, the more it will come true. So here we were, the group was excitedly being escorted to the infamous Reptiles and Amphibian sanctuary! Our hairs stood at one end when the snakes and alligators stared us back, and we almost heard them saying to each other, 'here comes our meal for today'.

Sensing from the look on our faces, the Zookeeper led us to the turtles enclosure for our duty for the day (half day actually). So we let out our breath thinking it's those cute little pet turtles that we will be 'playing' with but we were also requested to take care of the giant turtles which are over 100 kg and over 100 years old ............ yikes .... !

But the giant turtles by the name of 'Do - Re - Mi' is of the Aldabran species from Middle and West Africa, are smart, and friendly, despite their godzilla looking features. So all in all, we had a great time cleaning their habitat, bathing and polishing and feeding them (Oh yes, we also fed quite a bit of mosquitoes in the Zoo).

Here are the pictures of our fun time with our CSR program in the Zoo.

Bathing, then waxing the trio .....

Preparing meals for the turtles and other reptiles  .....

                                                   Feeding the alligators

'Makan' time for the giant turtle .......

Snake charmers .......

So the story goes. Our next plan, let's start thinking of the other giants ..... the Pandas in our next CSR program. Until then, don't just look at the stars but one must be able to see the lights too.
